My name is Pierre Desjardins, I’m originally from Northern Ontario, now living in Toronto, and I have a serious interest in the animal kingdom.
Over the years I’ve managed a wide variety of exotic animals, I’ve rehabilitated wildlife and I’ve advocated for animal rights and animal enrichment. I’m also a member of the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council (IWRC) and the Ontario Wildlife Rehabilitation Network (OWREN).
Throughout my career working with animals, I’ve had some very unique experiences that have left me questioning…What are animals like? What kind of mental lives do they live? What responsibilities do we have towards each other?
I’ve started Alpha Heart Wildlife as an independent advocacy project to promote wildlife conservation and to further our understanding of the “humanimal” connection.
On this blog, I will post the most intense exemplifications of this “humanimal” connection from across the world. The content I feature will always be rooted in a nexus between humans and animals. I will also share pictures, stories and videos of my own journey through this meaningful association.
Alpha Heart Wildlife is meant to draw deep-seated inspiration and appreciation for the natural world commanded to our care.
